I wish I could say this was a typical boy meets girl and they exchange a few sentences or mutual friends, but nope that’s not our story.
Let’s take it back to winter break in December 2018. It’s 1 am in the morning and I’m sitting in the car with my besties. We were having the usual girl talk when one of them says:
“Guys we should probably start dating soon. What if we make a bet to push us into the dating scene?”
Aimee and Alondra were not about it, but Leslie was set to take the bragging rights, cause that’s all that was up for grabs.
I couldn’t possibly let Leslie win all the time, so I was in it to win it. We’d set the rules of the bet. We would need to get two dates per month for the entire year of 2019.
We encountered one slight issue though…how were we going to get those dates? It’s 2019 no one does physical interactions so in comes the famous app Tinder.
By January 7th I had matched and set a date for January 12. With this guy named Nicholas Lopez with an amazing smile (the reason I swiped right). We had planned a movie date to watch The Commuter.
When the day came it was my first date and I was feeling all types of nervousness. I was face-timing the girls while getting ready to make sure I looked fine and when I got the “on my way” text everything and everyone flipped sh*t.
I was beyond nervous I did not even realize that my apartments have 3 sections and I lived in the third. So it took him about 10 minutes to finally find me.
We drove to the movies, watched the commuter and afterward went to have dinner at Chili’s. We talked for about 4 hours which is crazy to think about. He walked me to my apartment door and we said our goodnights.
I felt very content with how the overall date went. I made the first move after dishing all the tea to my girls on the date and sent him a text saying I had a great night.
I still hate my love story but everyone seems to like it, so I guess I will start getting used to it too.

You thought this was the end, but as you can see, you thought wrong! It’s me, the famous Nick 0_o haha and of course I’m making a surprise guest appearance. I know, super exciting, right?!
Anyways, you heard the story from my beautiful fiancé, so now it’s time to hear it from the better story teller (we both kinda suck at story telling, sorry :D)
Now, I can’t start this story at the point me and Evelyn matched, and don’t worry I won’t type up a whole book. One of my good friends, John Cox (yup funny last name but trust me, he’s a good dude), had great luck with Tinder before me and Evelyn matched (fun fact, him and his match are engaged and expecting a kid soon).
That led to me trying it out (which I was very against before), but let’s just say I didn’t have the same luck John had. Not until of course I matched with the chosen one, Evelyn.
It was real funny when I went to pick her up. I can’t remember exactly what directions she gave me but they were wrong and I was lost in her apartment complex for a decent time. “Way to go Evelyn,” Yup I know.
As for the date, I can go on and on about how the date went but I’ll sum it up in these few words: I TALKED A LOT!! And for those that know me, you know I’m not one to make conversation so easily with complete strangers. Evelyn even said I kept the conversation going the entire night, so I guess you can say I was the MVP of the night 😉
With the out of character talking and the overall great date, I decided to see where our relationship would go, and thankfully she decided the same thing. And with the tendency I have to type A LOT, I’ll stop here…..you know how it ends anyways 🙂
